Creator's Hearth is operated by Blake Reichenbach. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit creatorshearth.com, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Questions about this policy or privacy requests can be submitted via the Contact page.

Information we collect

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (tag ID: G-5E5BLGD6YK) to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects data including pages visited, time spent on the site, general geographic location (country and region), browser type, and device type. This data is aggregated and anonymized โ€” we cannot identify individual visitors from it. Google Analytics uses cookies to track sessions across visits.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

Creator's Hearth uses Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-7279360732807386) to display advertising. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These cookies allow Google to deliver interest-based advertising.

You can opt out of interest-based advertising through Google's Ad Settings or through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. Note that opting out does not remove ads โ€” it removes personalization, so you may see generic advertising instead.

Bookshop.org affiliate links

Creator's Hearth participates in the Bookshop.org affiliate program. When you click a link to Bookshop.org from this site, Bookshop.org may set cookies to track whether a purchase is made. If you purchase within the attribution window, we earn a small commission. Bookshop.org's own privacy policy governs how they handle this data.

The Learn section โ€” local storage and account data

The Fiction 101 course at /learn/ tracks your progress using browser local storage (the key ch_fiction101_v1). This data is stored only in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers unless you create an account. Clearing your browser data will delete your progress.

If you create a Creator's Hearth account, your email address and course progress are stored in Supabase, a third-party database service. We use this data only to provide cross-device progress sync and to send authentication emails (password resets, magic links) via Brevo. We do not use this data for marketing purposes.

Contact form

If you submit a message via the Contact page, we retain your email address and message content in order to respond. We do not add you to any mailing lists from contact form submissions.

How we use information

  • To understand how the site is used and improve its content
  • To display advertising that supports the site
  • To earn affiliate commissions on qualifying book purchases
  • To track your course progress in the Learn section
  • To respond to your messages if you contact us

Third-party services

This site uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Cookies

We do not set first-party cookies ourselves. Cookies on this site are set by Google (for Analytics and AdSense) and Bookshop.org (for affiliate tracking). You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling all cookies may affect how some features of the site work.

Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default. Local storage course progress remains in your browser until you clear it. Account data in Supabase is retained as long as your account is active; you can request deletion by emailing us. Contact emails are retained as long as needed to address your inquiry.

Your rights

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking, manage Google advertising preferences, clear your browser's local storage to delete course progress, and request deletion of your Learn account via the Contact page. If you are in the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR โ€” contact us to exercise them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site's features or third-party services change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
